Notice about Camp ROCKS 2020

It is with great disappointment that we are posting notification of the  cancellation of Camp ROCKS 2020 at Bradford Woods this June. Bradford Woods is owned and operated by Indiana University. In an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, Indiana University has made the difficult decision to cancel all camps and events scheduled for the summer of 2020. This includes Camp ROCKS. It is with sincere regret that Indiana University had to make this decision, but they did so because they value the well being of every camper.

Health and safety must prevail, and this action was taken out of an abundance of caution to protect our campers, their families, Bradford Woods staff, and everyone else associated with Bradford Woods. With the extension of social distancing guidelines and the potential effect on our campers, it is simply not possible to move forward with Camp ROCKS or any Bradford Woods camp this year.

At Easterseals Crossroads, we understand the importance of camp and what it means to our Camp ROCKS campers and their families. We know that Camp ROCKS helps to promote independence and growth for our participants, while providing valuable respite for our campers’ families.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Tracy Gale, Director, Autism & Behavior Services at tgale@eastersealscrossroads.org.

We recognize that traditional camps are not always an option for children on the autism spectrum. Camp ROCKS is an outdoor camp specifically designed for young people with autism who are 10 – 18 years of age. Campers will enjoy a 5-night/6-day outdoor camp experience.  Age-appropriate activities allow campers the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor camping experience in a fun, nurturing environment. Activities include science exploration, swimming, nature hikes, horseback riding, canoeing and much more!

Camp ROCKS takes place just southwest of Indianapolis in Martinsville, Indiana, at Bradford Woods. All activities are led by a team of professionals trained to work with individuals on the autism spectrum. Meals are provided.
