Our speakers, Nick Springer and Emma Preuschl, medaled in the Beijing and London Paralympic games, and they are excited to share their stories of ability and accomplishment. Nick Springer - Rugby Player
Nick contracted a bacterial infection at age 14 - meningococcal meningitis - during summer camp. After he awoke from a medically induced comma, he found that both his arms and legs had been amputated; his legs from the knees down and his arms at mid-forearm.
Currently, Nick is a spokesperson for the National Meningitis Association and a consultant for Novartis. He lives between New York and Phoenix, where he plays rugby for the Phoenix Fusion.

Emma Preuschl

Emma has Erbs Palsy of the brachial plexus, a nerve injury from birth. It affects her muscle function and her ability to grasp, extend and reach with her left arm. She started rowing at 14; and later applied to college universities with rowing programs. She was recruited for the US National Paralympic team in her final year at Purdue University.
